Mrs. Matney’s 5th Grade Newsletter

November 16-20

Our Veterans Day activities were fabulous.  The students did a great job, and we appreciate everybody who was able to attend.  Also, thank you for coming to our Curriculum Night.  It was so nice to see that many people attend.

The Spelling Bee is Thursday, November 19th, and the Thanksgiving Luncheon is on the same day.

We will be making Pumpkin Bread on Friday.  Your child has the needed information about this day.  Please ask for it.

Please have your child do First in Math.  We are focusing on adding and subtracting decimals.  The students should also be working on Skill Sets 1-3.

Parents, please don’t remove papers from your child’s folders unless the papers are graded.    Many times we will be working on an assignment in class and won’t complete it.  I will tell the students to put the unfinished work in the appropriate folder to complete the next day.  It is very important that they have this work for the next day.  Please do go through their folders to see what we are doing in class.

If you have any questions for me, it is easier to contact me through e-mail or Engrade.  My e-mail address is  If you login to your Engrade account, you can easily send me a message through Engrade as well.  I see both of these more quickly than I have a chance to make a phone call, so I can respond in a timely manner.  If you want to meet with me, please let me know, and I will set up a time for us to meet.  I can meet any day during my planning (7:35-8:25) or after school.
